CARBON & SULPHUR APPARATUS
Introduction:
The determination of carbon and sulphur contents in iron & steel has become an absolute necessity for all chemical and metallurgical laboratories, iron & steel plants, foundries and forging unit etc. There is a substantial saving of time as in a shot time, both carbon and sulphur contents can be determined in one action. The dual determination is excellently suitable for routine analysis.
Model consists of the following:
Controller for carbon and sulphur apparatus
It is a control unit. For the combustion tube furnace with digital temp. indicator and amp. indicator in a deluxe cabinet with pt-pt/rh 13% thermocouple.
Combustion tube Furnace:
The electrical combustion tube furnace is designed with silicon carbide rods connected in series for maximum temperature of 1400 C The rods are placed in a cylindrical shaped refractory chambers fitted with end caps having provision for combustion tube and 3nos. Silicon carbide rods. The refractory chamber is supported with insulating material to reduce heat losses.
Glass Parts Assembly:
It includes a carbon burette, Absorption vessel, ‘L’ Bend with stop clock. There way stop cock, Leveling bottle, filter trap, oxygen gas bubblers, Observation tube fitted on a wooden frame with base.

Further, a team of deft expert ensures that these gate valves are delivered at clients location within the scheduled time.
Other information:
- End Quench test is used to determine the hardenability of steels.
- The material to be evaluated is heated uniformly on particular range of temperature for a limited time-period along with water quenching at one end which helps in measuring the hardness of the test material at various points.
- After heating process, the test specimen is provided with specimen support where the action valve impinged the water on specimen so that desired water level for the nozzle is obtained.
- Entire test apparatus is a closed apparatus which comprises of electrical controls and safety devices for pumps and motor.
- Total length and the diameter of the test piece used should be 100 ± 0.5 mm and 25 (+ 0.5 ; - 0.0) mm respectively.
- Vertical water supply pipe have internal diameter of 12.5 ± 0.5 mm
- Free water jet have height of 65 ± 10 mm
- Distance between tip of nozzle and bottom of test piece is 12.5 ± 0.5 mm
